Neuroscience is the study of neural dynamics
as related to the anatomy and function of the brain.
Studies concerning the structure and function of the human brain utilize neuroimaging techniques like electroencephalography (EEG) and magnetoencephalography (MEG) which maximize the detection of temporal dynamics, and functional
magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) and positron emission tomography (PET) which maximize the
localization of various brain regions responsible for particular functions.
Neuroscience, to me, is one of the most fascinating fields since it lends itself
to endless exploration.
The workings of the brain are extremely complex, and continue to be a mystery for most scientists.
Philosophy has attempted to answer some of the most difficult questions, such as what is
consciousness. Neuroscience attempts to address these questions, and with one step at a time,
we get closer to the answers.
My research interests include multisensory integration,
learning, schizophrenia, major depression, and aging.
